| Methamphetamines are considered
one of the most addictive substances on the illegal drug market.
Methamphetamines are man-made drugs with extreme potential for
abuse and addiction. Chemically, meth itself is addictive, and
the effects that it produces on the brain are feelings such
as euphoria and mania. Meth has effects similar to that of cocaine,
and once a user starts to use it regularly, it is very difficult
to stop. A person who uses meth habitually may find that they
are able to navigate through daily life accordingly at first,
but their addiction to meth almost always takes over their lives.
Meth addiction does not discriminate and can affect anyone no
matter what his or her age, gender, race or social status. While
it is easier for some groups of people to find meth than others,
drug addicts, while dysfunctional, are resourceful when it comes
to their addiction. People addicted to meth often find that
they no longer care about things that were once important to
them; family, friends and other relationships, as well as daily
life activities such as work and school are no longer priorities.
People who struggle with meth addiction are not alone and there
is help. Many addicts find that they cannot quit using meth
until they have lost everything, however recovery is possible
with honesty and an open mind. If you or someone you love struggles
with meth addiction, there is help in drug rehabilitation and
treatment. |
