| Methamphetamines are classified
as a stimulant or an upper. Some believe that it is possibly
one of the most addictive types of drugs available. Methamphetamines
are classified into various types of subsets but are commonly
referred to by names such as speed and meth. Methamphetamines
that are tuned into crystalline-types of drugs are called such
names as crank and ice. Meth drugs can be consumed in different
ways including inhalation of powders and ingestion of pills;
these drugs can also be smoked through a reduction of their
crystal or powder form. Most commonly these drugs are called
‘crystal meth’, a name coined by the younger, party-going
generations. Meth drugs can also be injected intravenously.
Methamphetamines are extremely popular because the initial effect
of the drug is euphoria. This side effect created by over stimulation
of certain nerve receptors in the brain makes the user feel
as though they are invincible and able to do more in less time.
People who use meth regularly are often unable to sleep and
they often lose their appetite, have increased levels of regular
functions such as heartbeat and respiration. Over a period of
time consistent meth users may suffer from decreased motor skills
including physical coordination and vision, as well as health
symptoms such as the possibility for stroke and heart failure.
